1) HACCP PLAN
We work very closely with our Directorate Veterinary to ensure everything is up to FEDIAF standards. Everything we produce is approved and traceable and fit for human consumption.
2) Food Microbiology
As part of our continuous improvement and guaranteed quality, we regularly spot check and lab test our suppliers’ ingredients. Batches are sent for an independent laboratory test, for Enterobacteriaceae / Salmonella and Ecoli. All Raw Pet Foods must pass regulations and tests as set out in EU Directives EU Directives No. 1069/2009 & 142/201. Our tests must show an enterobacterial count of less than 5,000 parts and 0 salmonella per gram of meat (expressed in CFU/g). A gram of meat contains close to 1 billion cells, so our delicious raw food is tested to guarantee that they have less than 5000 parts per billion bacteria and zero salmonella. Below you will see one of the tests we have done.
3 )Our products are HPP FREE
Another reason why to choose us is that our raw food is HPP free. HPP or High-Pressure Pasteurisation is a process used by several commercial raw food brands to sterilize raw pet food. The food is sealed in a package and then subjected to high levels of pressure and ends up looking like unappealing mush. When applying HPP the food becomes processed and therefore removes beneficial bacteria. A healthy gut biome is key when raising healthy dogs and cats. The good bacteria that unprocessed raw dog food provides, are crucial to maintaining your pet’s gut health and immune system. These help to build up your pet’s digestive system to defend against invading pathogens. As HPP commercial raw food is sterilised it also diminishes some of the nutrients and no longer looks, feels or tastes fresh.
According to nutrition expert Steve Brown , “The gut microbiome plays a crucial role in processing nutrients. Our microbes process foods that we can’t and extend our digestive capabilities to:
Prime the immune system
Influence brain development
Produce vitamins
Degrade xenobiotics (a chemical compound not naturally found in the body).
